Career Consultation Options

1. Career Exploration (5 hours of consulting services)

This strategy is designed to identify and confirm skills and work preferences. Assessments include interests, personality, work environment and reward preferences. The focus is upon work issues. A career action plan is developed and implemented. Completion of the action plan is the responsibility of the client. The consultant may be engaged for additional hours to provide coaching and support. This service is recommended for clients seeking assistance with:

  • Career Management
  • Career Design
  • Career Re-entry
  • Career Change

The North 40 Network Career Exploration Process includes the following:

  • Client contacts The North 40 Network to request service, discuss the service plan below and provide payment information.
  • The North 40 Network makes a 30 minute complimentary telephone call to clarify career development goal(s) and to explain web based career inventories used to identify career interests and psychological characteristics for interpretation in the second session. Inventory material expenses are at no additional cost.
  • A North 40 Network workbook is sent to the client for reference, self assessments and career resources.
  • Interpretation of inventory results is delivered by a qualified consultant. Interpretation requires 75 minutes of service time.
  • Consultation session requires 45 minutes to report and discuss inventory results with the client.
  • Consultant sets career development goals and an action plan for the remaining minutes of consultation.
  • Action plans may focus on further detailing of career development goals informational interviewing, job identification, application letters, resume polish and interview preparation.
  • Within the time limit, finalization of the action plan(s) may not be possible. The consultant will inform client of realistic expectations for goal completion and arrange additional consulting time if needed.

2. Career Strategy (10 hours of consulting services)

The life complexities of mid-career professionals require a serious time commitment to thoughtfully and comprehensively consider options, set and implement plans that address competing aspirations from work and non-work. This service is a custom approach to the individual’s stated career goals. An ongoing relationship is developed between the consultant and the individual. Continuous support, encouragement and direction are provided to help clients achieve their goals. Career Strategy is recommended for clients seeking assistance with:

  • Career Management
  • Career Design
  • Career Re-entry
  • Career Transition
  • Retiring with Purpose

This service is a custom approach to the individual’s stated career goals. An ongoing relationship is developed between the consultant and the individual. Ongoing support, encouragement and direction are provided to help clients achieve their goals.

The North 40 Network Career Strategy Process includes the following:

  • Client contacts The North 40 Network to request service, discuss the service plan below and provide payment information.
  • A North 40 Network workbook is sent to the client for reference, self assessments and career resources.
  • The North 40 Network initiates a complimentary 30 minute telephone call to clarify career development goal(s), obtain information impacting the selection of the consultant and assess the preliminary action plan consultation topics. Determination is made regarding the need for web-based career inventories.
  • If inventories are selected, interpretation of inventory results by a qualified consultant requires 75 minutes of service time.
  • Consultation session requires 45 minutes of service time to discuss inventory results with client to set career development goals and action plans for the remaining counseling sessions.
  • Action plans may focus on further detailing of career development goals informational interviewing, job identification, application letters, resume polish, interview preparation and follow-up, second interviews, salary negotiation and job offer conditions.
  • Within the time limit, finalization of the action plan(s) may not be possible. The counselor will inform client of realistic expectations for goal completion and arrange additional consulting time if needed.
